Nominations for NAECB Directors

MAY 5: Call For Nominations

The National Asthma Educator Certification Board has continued to support asthma education certification for the past five years since the exam was first offered in September 2002. To date we have had over 3,200 educators sit for the exam with more than 2,224 of them passing and receiving the certified asthma educator (AE-C©) credential.

As part of the continued success of the Board, the Nominating Committee must ensure that each director position is filled with enthusiastic, competent individuals that will complement the current board. In accordance with the NAECB bylaws, the nominating committee must develop and present a list of nominees to the entire Board for a vote by our certificants each fall. The slate may be based in part on the suggestions from the stakeholders. Therefore, we need your assistance in identifying individuals that you believe would be an asset to the Board of Directors. The individuals you recommend must fulfill the following requirements:

    * Be able and willing to serve on the Board of Directors
    * Be dedicated to quality in asthma education
    * Submit a completed application packet

To maintain the Board’s professional diversity, we are looking for healthcare professionals and other individuals interested/involved in asthma education. This year we are in particular need of Registered Nurse, Registered Respiratory Therapist, and a 1000 hour asthma educator. Potential board members are strongly encouraged to have attained the certified asthma educator (AE-C©) designation. Examples of additional skills or experiences that would be beneficial for potential board members to have include but are not limited to: Public Relations & Marketing, moderating/facilitating strategic planning, credentialing/exam development/item writing, fundraising expertise, legal acumen and business development. The Board does not discriminate based on religion, sex, gender, disability, or race. Past board experience and national recognition will also be helpful in serving on the NAECB.

Please use the form by clicking on the link, below. You may recommend yourself or another individual and return the form no later than July 1st, 2008. This allows the Nominating committee ample time to carefully review all applications and present a ballot to the Board by the August board meeting. Additional copies can be found on our website at www.naecb.org.

Thank you in advance for assistance in this vital matter.

Sincerely,

Diane Porretta Fox, RN, RRT-NPS, BA, MSN, AE-C
Chair, Nominating Committee
